Ingredients

For the Chicken

  • 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts or thighs (cut into bite-sized chunks)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder add more if you like it spicy
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

For the Tacos

  • 8 small tortillas flour or corn
  • Toppings: shredded lettuce chopped tomatoes, shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa, guacamole, lime wedges, or any of your favorites

Instructions

Season the Chicken

  • Cut chicken into small chunks or strips.
  • In a large bowl, combine chicken, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Toss everything together until the chicken is well coated with the spices.

Air Fry the Chicken

  • Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (if your air fryer requires preheating).
  • Place the seasoned chicken in the air fryer basket in a single layer (don't overcrowd).
  • Cook for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through. Chicken is done when it reaches an internal temp of 165°F.

Warm the Tortillas

  • While the chicken cooks, warm the tortillas. You can wrap them in foil and heat them in the oven at 350°F for about 5-7 minutes.
  • Or char them on a gas burner for a few seconds on each side.

Build the Tacos

  • Lay out a warm tortilla.
  • Add crispy air fryer chicken pieces, then pile on your favorite toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and a squeeze of fresh lime.
  • Repeat with the remaining tortillas.

Notes

  • Make it Spicy: Add cayenne pepper to the seasoning mix for more heat.
  • Batch Cooking: Double the chicken and store extra air fryer chicken taco meat for meal prep.
  • Meal Idea: Use the chicken for taco bowls, salads, or burritos.
