Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup milk or dairy-free alternative
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup hot water or hot coffee for richer flavor
  • 1 egg

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat & Prep

  • Preheat your air fryer to 320°F (160°C). Grease a 6-inch cake pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2: Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Step 3: Mix Wet Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, mix milk, oil, vanilla, and egg. Slowly add hot water while stirring (the batter will be thin—don’t worry!).

Step 4: Combine & Pour

  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until smooth. Then, pour the batter into the cake pan.

Step 5: Bake

  • Place the cake pan in the air fryer and bake for 25-30 minutes. Check doneness by inserting a toothpick in the center—if it comes out clean, it’s done!

Step 6: Cool & Serve

  • Let the cake cool for 10 minutes before removing from the pan. Frost, dust with powdered sugar, or enjoy as is!
