Ingredients

  • 2 frozen cod fillets around 6 oz each
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Lemon wedges for serving
  • Optional: chopped parsley or a drizzle of melted butter for garnish

Instructions

  • Set the air fryer to 390°F (200°C) and let it preheat for a few minutes while you prepare the fish.
  • Brush or spray both sides of the frozen cod fillets with olive oil or melted butter. In a small bowl, mix garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper, then sprinkle the seasoning over both sides of the fish.
  • Place the fillets in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 10 minutes, then carefully flip the fillets. Continue cooking for another 5 to 7 minutes, or until the cod flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  • Remove the cod and squeeze fresh lemon juice on top. Add parsley or a drizzle of melted butter if you like a little extra flavor.
  • Serve the crispy cod with your favorite sides like fries, veggies, or salad.

Notes

Tips

  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; leave space for air to circulate evenly.
  • Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the fillets and your air fryer model.
  • Use parchment paper liners to make cleanup easier and prevent sticking.
  • Avoid overcooking the fish to keep it moist and flaky.
  • Try different seasoning blends like Cajun, lemon pepper, or Italian herbs for variety.

Variations

  • Lemon Garlic Cod: Add a squeeze of lemon juice and minced garlic before air frying for extra brightness.
  • Parmesan Crusted Cod: Sprinkle grated Parmesan and breadcrumbs on top before cooking for a crunchy coating.
  • Spicy Cod: Mix paprika with a pinch of cayenne or chili flakes for a little kick.
  • Butter Herb Cod: Toss the cooked fish with melted butter, parsley, and a hint of dill for a classic flavor combo.
