Cook Time 12 minutes
Servings 8 tacos

Ingredients

For the Cod

  • 4 cod fillets fresh or thawed if frozen
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

For the Tacos

  • 8 small tortillas flour or corn
  • 2 cups shredded cabbage or slaw mix
  • ½ cup chopped cilantro
  • Lime wedges for serving
  • Creamy taco sauce mayo + lime juice + hot sauce, mixed together

Instructions

  • Pat your cod fillets dry with paper towels. Brush with olive oil on both sides. In a small bowl, mix all your seasonings together, then sprinkle them evenly over each fillet.
  • Place the fillets in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd them. Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for about 10 to 12 minutes, flipping halfway through. The fish should be golden and flaky when done.
  • While the fish is cooking, warm your tortillas in the air fryer for about 1 to 2 minutes or microwave for 20 seconds until soft and flexible.
  • Add a few pieces of crispy cod to each tortilla. Top with shredded cabbage, cilantro, and a drizzle of creamy taco sauce. Add a squeeze of lime juice on top for that fresh, zesty kick.
  • Serve right away while the fish is hot and crunchy. These tacos taste amazing with chips and guac or a side of rice.

Notes

Tips

  • Pat the cod dry before seasoning for maximum crispiness.
  • Add panko breadcrumbs for a crunchier texture.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; give each piece space to crisp.
  • Spray a light mist of oil if you want extra golden fish.
  • For easy cleanup, line your air fryer basket with parchment paper.

Variations

  • Spicy Version: Add cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce to the seasoning mix.
  • Low-Carb Option: Skip the tortillas and serve the cod on lettuce wraps or cauliflower rice.
  • Mango Salsa Twist: Add a sweet touch with diced mango, red onion, and lime juice as a topping.
  • Garlic Lime Crema: Mix sour cream, lime juice, and garlic for a tangy sauce that pairs perfectly with the fish.
  • Kid-Friendly: Skip the chili powder and serve with plain mayo or ranch for picky eaters.
