Ingredients

  • 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate chocolate chips work great!
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Pinch of salt

Optional:

  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Melt the Chocolate and Butter

  • Melt the chocolate and butter together in the microwave or over a double boiler. Let cool slightly.

Mix the Wet Ingredients

  • Whisk together eggs, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Combine the Wet and Dry Ingredients

  • Stir in the melted chocolate and butter mixture. Add flour and salt, and mix until smooth.

Prepare the Ramekins

  • Grease two ramekins with butter or cooking spray. Divide the batter between them.

Air Fry the Lava Cakes

  • Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Air fry for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are firm and the center is still soft.

Let it Cool, Then Serve

  • Allow the cakes to cool for a few minutes, then flip them onto a plate. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve with vanilla ice cream for extra sweetness.

Notes

  • Don’t overcook them! The key to the perfect lava cake is keeping that center gooey. Keep an eye on them while they cook!
  • Chocolate is everything: Use the best chocolate you can get your hands on—it really makes a difference in how the cake tastes.
  • Customize it: You could add in a few chocolate chips in the center for an even extra gooey surprise or try a spoonful of peanut butter for a twist!
