Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk any kind works for me, I sometimes use oat milk
  • 1/4 cup oil vegetable or canola
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional:

  • chocolate chips or chopped nuts for extra yum

Instructions

Step 1: Mix the dry ingredients

  • In a big bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Make sure everything is mixed well. I sometimes sneak a taste here and there, just to make sure it is chocolatey enough.

Step 2: Add the wet ingredients

  • Pour in the milk, oil, and vanilla. Mix until smooth. If you want, fold in the chocolate chips or nuts now. I usually let my kids do this part because they think they are helping but really they just eat some of the chips.

Step 3: Prepare the pan

  • Line a small pan that fits in your air fryer with parchment paper. Pour the batter in and spread it evenly. My pan was a little too small once and it spilled over. Learn from me, measure your pan.

Step 4: Air fry the brownies

  • Set your air fryer to 320 degrees Fahrenheit (160 Celsius). Cook for 20 to 25 minutes. Start checking at 20 minutes by poking with a toothpick. It should come out mostly clean but a little gooey in the middle. I know it is hard to wait but it is worth it.

Step 5: Let them cool and slice

  • Let the brownies cool for 10 minutes before slicing. My kids sometimes get impatient and try to dig in while hot. I let them have one little bite while warm and save the rest for after.

Notes

Tips

  • Do not overcook, eggless brownies dry out fast.
  • Swap milk with almond or oat milk if needed.
  • A sprinkle of sea salt on top before cooking adds a fancy touch.
  • Let them cool slightly for better slicing.

Variations

  • Add chocolate chips or nuts for extra texture.
  • Swirl peanut butter, caramel, or Nutella on top before cooking for a fun twist.
  • Use silicone molds for individual brownies.
  • Try mixing in cocoa nibs or white chocolate chunks for a different flavor.
